وجدت لجنة الخبراء المعنية بالقضية أن الهجوم الإلكتروني بدأ من قبل مجموعات قراصنة ومخالفين للقانون من خلفيات حكومية من خارج البلاد. علمت جلوبال تايمز أن الأدلة الأولية تشير إلى أن الهجوم الإلكتروني المدعوم من الحكومة على المركز جاء من الولايات المتحدة.
قال مكتب إدارة الطوارئ ببلدية ووهان في بيان يوم الأربعاء إن بعض معدات الشبكة الخاصة بنقاط تجميع المحطة الأمامية لمركز مراقبة الزلازل في ووهان تعرضت لهجوم إلكتروني من قبل منظمة خارجية ، وفقًا لرصد فيروس الكمبيوتر الوطني. مركز الاستجابة للطوارئ (CVERC) وشركة أمن الإنترنت الصينية 360.
قام المركز على الفور بإغلاق المعدات المتضررة وأبلغ سلطات الأمن العام بالهجوم ، من أجل التحقيق في القضية والتعامل مع منظمة المتسللين والمجرمين وفقًا للقانون قال البيان.
